In USA for 6 months on B2, want to transit through US on way to Canada from Caribbean

Hello,

I am currently in the US on a B2 visa (I'm from New Zealand), and I will be here for a total of 6 months traveling around. After the 6 months is up, I want to go to the Caribbean for a week or so, and then fly to Canada where I have a work visa. I want to transit through the US on my way to Canada as flights are cheaper.
I'm wondering if I'll be refused entry as I will have been in the US for 6 months then out of the US for only a week, even if I have a flight to Canada booked for the same day?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

it is all at the discretion of the officer. To avoid any problems , I would do it( go to carribean and back to canada) while my US stay is still valid ( before the 6 m onths are up).
