    Hi...I had applied for a B-2 visa to attend a family friend's marriage and had my interview on 30.06.2014. Unfortunately i could not present my case well and got rejected under section 214(b).
    My interview went as follows:
    Q- what do u do?
    A- i am working with an automobile company xxx as an engineer.

    Q-for how long have you been working?
    A- since jan 2011

    Q- wats your purpose of visit?
    A- to attend a family friend's marriage

    Q- have you ever travelled abroad before?
    A- no, this will be my first visit abroad

    And then after few seconds he said that i am not approved for visa and handed over me the 214(b) page.

    Now as i have to attend this marriage
    and the date is approaching I want to know how soon can I reapply.? I read that after 3 business days one can reapply so does the date of interview is counted in the 3 business days?

    Moreover i did not present documents during my interview despite having sponsorship papers I-134 from my family friend's dad. Also, i am getting married in december and i have the resort booking receipt along with me.
    I am also under bond with my company which is getting over in january next year. What are my chances of getting visa ?? Please help

    Travelling to US for a family friend's marriage that too on the friend's Dad's sponsorship doesn't appear very natural and convincing.

    Which country are you applying in? Which country's citizen are you? Whats your annual income in USD?

    This is my opinion not legal advice.

      That family friend's dad is basically my fiancé's sister's father in law...that is how i am related to that person... I am going to be a part of the same family...my fiancé is already there for the wedding. He treats her as his daughter that's why they want to meet me and attend their son's wedding...
      I am applying in india and is a citizen of india..

        there is no point in applying again for this purpose as you will be denied again 100%.

        You are young and single with no history of travel abroad and the most important reason for denial is your purpose.
        If you were going for an immediate family member's wedding like a real bro and sis , you could have stood a chance.
        But going all the way to US for a family friend's wedding, the officers think it is an excuse . They do not care how you are related.
        Also, your dependence on the other person for the funds is very negative.

        Tips for success;
        Apply for a visitor visa
        *after you are married ;
        *after you have made some trips abroad; and
        *for a tour of US with your wife on your own funding ( no sponsorship from US).

            No that may not be enough. You havent answered the question regarding what's your provable-through IT returns- income ?

              Yes, but if your trips abroad have included employment abroad or other extended stay, that's another reason to reject you for sure.

                Hey, i had my interview today and despite the low odds, i actually got the visa..) ) ..the consular kept my passport and told that i'll get it in 2-3 days...
                Thanx everyone for your replies to my queries..i would like to know that what is the minimum validity of a B2 visa...i have not seen anyone getting less than 10 years multiple entry visa...so will I be getting the same 10 year multiple entry visa?? Or is there any possibility of getting a lesser validity visa?? My passport is expiring in 2016
