Overstay due to missing connecting flight

My parents overstayed due to missing International flight at Newark as their domestic flight was delayed. Due to heavy booking they were able to leave after two days. So they overstayed like 2/3 days.

Is there any way I can rectify this situation.

Or is their 10yr visa cancelled and have to reapply ?

It is cacelled and they will have to repply. That is the reason one should not
wait till the last day of their granted stay to leave.

It is advisable for them to keep all records of the flight and explain it to the consular while applying again.
