A rolling year start date

A tourist visa was issued to me in 15 August 2012. I want to ask when exactly a rolling year start? Would it start on ever 15 aug ? Or Jan 1?

I would just like to track my duration so I do not stay more than 6 months in a rolling year.

where did you get this term 'rolling year"?

and there is no hard and fast rule about spending 6 months in a year as a visitor.

Other factors are important, working or retired? reason for spending 6 months in a year?

Let's say someone is unemployed currently and has to visit US from canada for couple of weeks to take care of parents in a sense of his sibling who is gone for vacation for 2 weeks. Last time I visited I spent 3 months. I am financially supported by my family business so working or not working doesn't makes much difference for me. I d not know how an immigration officer will see this situation.

yes we actually have but i think i have to go this time urgently thats why i am trying to evaluate the risks.

last visit was from feb 10, 2014 to may 22, 2014
I am canadian work permit holder and I could get my PR any time because it is in process.

you spent more than 3 months. in routine course you should give it 5-6 months before entering again.
But if there is an urgency , one can enter requesting a short period like 2 weeks and explaining the reason for a quick return.
