  • Filling DS 160 appilcation for Serving Army Personal

    Hi,

1 . I am serving Army officer in Indian Army.

    2. While filling the DS 160 form , It asks have you ever served in the military.....if we enter yes, it asks for start and end dates. I am still serving so how should I answer this question.

    3. Also it specifically asks for prior military training and knowledge of handling of firearms. All answers are affirmative in his case.
Does any one know if some one with this profile was able to get B-1/2 visitor visa

    Nishant,

Your "end date" can be the date you complete the DS-160, or if narrative response allowed, try "current" or "ongoing."

Providing information about prior military experience or training will sometimes get an immigration-related application "sidetracked," especially if applicant is from a country with significant terrorist groups. I've seen this "sidetracking" with applicants from Nepal and Philippines, but especially with Afghans who received military training in the USSR and were officers in Afghan military.
