221g for serving defense officer

I applied for a b2 visa. Gave interview on 7th July 14 at Mumbai. The officer asked me some basic questions and when she saw my icard and supporting letter, she went inside and came back after 10 mins and gave me a 221g asking me to submit invitation letter, resume, job profile, purpose and some other info.

I want to know if this 'admin process' is standard for defense personnel or does it mean my visa will eventually be rejected.???

Oh it is standard. Not just for defence officers but many other occupations and personal backgrounds.

If they had already thought of rejecting your appl. they would not ask for resume etc. from you.

All that i get is a standard computer generated reply. No one knows a word more than what is already given on the 221g form.

with 221g, you just have to wait. No point contacting the embassy as even they won't know when it will be done.

Still no reply. The Kolkata consulate has a better and more efficient system, where they update the case status every week. The mumbai consulate does not bother to inform you about the progress. For tourists who have to book tickets, it is a pain that they cant plan in advance. What is the use of all this technology if processing requires so much time. Students are missing their admissions, parents cant meet children etc etc. I mean whats the whole concept of peace and brotherhood when the laws of a developed country like USA start with "every tourist has to prove that he is not intending to immigrate"
