Does anyone have any idea why a 221g is given to serving defense officers and how long does it take on an average. Admin processing for a defense officer as per me should be a piece of cake since they are already employed by the government of the country??

Admin processing goes for background check in washington , so even the embassy can not tell you how long it will take, let alone anybody in this forum.

So, you just have to wait.

so basically the USA can keep me waiting till an year max?

there are very rare instances of people waiting for years. But more commonly it gets done in a few weeks to months .
A lot of times , people get clearance and visas after their business dates( meetings, conferences etc.) are past.
