some queries about B2 visa for sister...

I have some questions about getting a visitor visa (B2) for my sister who is 21 yrs, unmarried and will be travelling by herself.

1. Is the I-94 duration random depending on case to case? I have usually heard parents (of friends) getting 6 months. Is it same (or lesser?) for siblings.

2. When is the I-94 duration told to the person? Is it told at the point of entry in the US?

3. Is the visa duration also depending on case to case? For example, i have heard for visa's for as long as 10 years.

I-94 duration is stamped on the passport at the time of entry at the US airport.
along with the status classification ( either B1 business or B2 pleasure).
It is entirely at the discretion of the officer but first time pleasure visitors of any age are usually given 6 months.


Visa duration depends on the case. Clear cut cases of any age even children can be given 10 years.
Doubtful cases ( which are suspected may not return but have a pressing purpose of visit may be given 6 month or 1 year single entry).
