Is I-134 (Affidavit) required??

Hi,

I am preparing papers for my parents for their visa interview. I am sponsering them.

When I looked at US consulate-Chennai web site there is no mention of I-134 anymore! It used to be their when I was preparing documents for my in-laws in July.

Looks like they have changed/update the Chennai consulate site...as well. And pro****ly took out the reference to I-134 !! as I had read some where that I-134 had not legal bidning anyway..

So, in such case, do you prefer that I send I-134 just to be sure??

Or am I not looking at the right page in the site?

Hello spam,
I-134 is not mandatory.It is required only when the applicants do not have enough funds of their own to meet the requirments of the trip.
If your parents can show enough funds of their own, you need not send
an I-134 and a simple invitation letter will suffice. This will also improve
the chances of getting the visa by showing that they have good financial ties to home country.

What they have listed is absolute minimum.
