  • Retirement Letter required for Visa Stamping of my in-laws

    Gurus,

    Need your quick help / advise on how to handle this.

    My in-laws are going for visitor visa stamping in hyderabad soon. he is a govt employee and retired two years back. Is Retirement letter required for visitor visa stamping? Are pension documents sufficient? Kindly clarify.

    If there is a link where the exact list of documents required for stamping is there, please share it with me.

    thanks.

    there is no hard and fast list of documents. Usually they do not ask to look at any documents or one or 2.

    But they must carry;

    something from the host ; their daughter's and your visa copies , salary slips from both of you if your wife is also working.
    If you are funding their trip as mentioned in the DS160 form, then you must send an I-134 with bank statements.

    his pension papers are enough.

      Do we need bank statements or just a letter from the bank showing the average of last six months bank balance? Please clarify.

      Thanks a lot for your help.

        in most cases they would ask for the salary slip/pay stub of the sponsor and his petition copy ( H1 or L1), nothing else.

        But you can send the last 6 months statements with a recent tax return that should be enough.

          Thank you for all the help.

          How should the question How long will you stay in the US? be answered?

          Is it okay if they say that they are planning to stay for around six months? Please advise.

            this question of duration is to be answered in the form and say whatever they mentioned in the form.

            6 months is too long. 3-4 months is ok for parents.
