  • Visitors visa for Russian retired parent

Hi all, I'd appreciate a few tips with my situation. About 10 years ago my parent was denied visitor's visa while I was in US Uni. I am a permanent resident in US now. I want to bring a retired parent from Russia for a 4 week visit.

We plan to get in advance the following supporting documentation:
    - Round trip tickets to US
    - Copy of a deed to a parent's house
    - A letter stating that my parent is a sole caretaker of our grandfather
    - A letter explaining the reason for a trip (holidays, my birthday and meeting my fiance)
    - Old passports showing several parent's trips to EU

Should I also forward I-134 in support as my parent won't be able to demonstrate sufficient funds to cover emergency expenses?

    Thank you in advance

this forum mostly relates to Indian situation and there will be differences in how they handle applications in India and Russia.

For example, here in India they do not look at any local documents like letter to the visa officer , property deed or round trip tickets.

Still , I can tell you that you will have to send an I-134 with bank and salary statements and write your name to the question
"who is paying for the trip' on the DS160 form.

they will ask him where you are working in US and how much you earn .
your dad must know the details in his mind and also carry your Green card copy and pay stub.
ALso, if your other parent is not there with your this parent then it can affect his/her application.
If he has other children in Russia then it will be positive for him.

In India, widowed, divorced parents with only or all children living in US really find it difficult to get visitor visas.
In that case the only way is for children in US to get their parents green cards when they become US citizens.
