  • Visitor visa for brother and his family

    Hi,

My brother (married) and sister in law - applied for visa ~4-5 years back - and got rejected twice.
They were recently married - with not sufficient funds to sponsor their trip.

They recently had a baby (4 months old) - and I would like them to visit me and my husband (both on H1 visa).

However, the financial situation has not changed much - my brother and sister in law combine earns ~8 lac/year - which according to me is not strong evidence to support their trip(correct me if I am wrong).

I am planning to sponsor their visa(I-134) - however the dilemma is :
    1) should my sister in law and baby apply for visa without my brother? OR
2)Should all 3 of them apply together as a family?

In either case - I am ready to sponsor their visa.
    Please help !!!!

the last time , did they show self funding?

just let them apply together as a family for a short duration like 4 weeks.

    And yes, you should sponsor.

People are successful with that income if they have a sponsor.

There is one thing though , the baby is too young, why not wait for a few months?

Yes - last time they showed self funding.

So - they should say purpose of visit - is to visit me, right? Also - how to mention that they need short duration visa for 4 weeks? Will that still give them 10 years visa?
And you think they have a higher chance - if they apply together as a family?

Well - I have been hearing from a lot of friends and family - that they are getting visa easily now - even people whose visa got rejected before.
Hence - we are thinking of taking this opportunity to re apply. Is there a problem with the baby being so small?

visiting brother is the most natural thing so they should mention that.
the duration has to be mentioned in the form DS160. Well they could write 6 weeks if they could provide proof of leave from the employer for that long.
And whatever visa they will get 1 year or 10 year , the stay will be determined at the US airport, and they usually give 6 months to first time visitors.

Baby; -- I do not know , some officer may wonder why go with that young a baby as traveling becomes difficult to manage.
        Some officers may not care.

So it is up to you.
