Extension of Stay question

Hi,

We have applied extension of stay (on B2) for my mom on last August 07,2014 and her current I-94 expires on Oct 10,2014 and we got USCIS receipt (EACxxxxxxxxxxx) as well on Aug 12. when we will get the status on application? and what we have to do if we don't get status on of before I-94 exp date? I called USCIS customer care number to ask questions on her stay post to I-94 expired date but no use of that call.

And another one, we have already bought the return ticket, but how do we manage ticket postfoning?

this is a common issue with extension that has frequently been discussed.

Usually it takes 2-4 months for the processing and it is very likely that you won't get a response before oct 10.

If she gets a denial after oct 10, the letter would ask her to leave immediately. THe USCIS computers would record an overstay
if she leaves after oct 10 and the next time she enters, they can ask her to prove that she applied for an extension and proof of her departure date.
And it will be at the discretion of the officer if he will admit her or not.
So, to avoid that hassle , I would suggest she wait for the response till oct 7 and if it has not arrived by then, she should leave.
You can call the airline and reschedule a ticket for oct 7. (They will charge the change of date fee.).

In future, apply for an extension much earlier than you did this time.
