  • I-134 or Self Paying for DS 160 - Visitor Visa?

    Hello,
My brother inlaw has sent me I-134 to sponsor my visit to USA for tour and attend seminar related to my profession where I will learn new things related to my work. My balance is approximately 5,000,00 in my savings account. I am confused if I should use I-134 or just put I am paying for my trip. Anyway, I will be paying for my tickets basically. But, staying with my brother inlaw and family, will also tour with them. Only thing I am concerned about is my brother inlaw's immigration history. He had stayed over his visa back in 1996, and than got permanent residency through business investment.

I have shown my personal income around 28,000 INR. Any suggestions?

If you are going for your professional work related seminar, you or your employer should fund it, NOT your relative in US.
And do not combine tourism with work in your application.
So, to show self funding for business purpose ( work related visit) your income is very important. Not your balance.
And your income, I am afraid is on the lower side for the visa purpose.

If you want to use your BIL's sponsorship , you and your wife can use it for a pure pleasure related visit. Then you can succeed even with 28000 income.
Yes, your BIL's past can be a problem but you may get lucky, the officer may not ask about how he got his GC. It was so long back.
Also, for a pure pleasure visit, your history of travel abroad to 1-2 countries like singapore, dubai, europe can be favorable.

Thank you for reply. I am single female, so just by self. And seminars that I am attending are related to my work field, and are free. I am attending that just to improve my resume on my own, not through my job. I am skin therapist & beautician, so I also do freelance during functions etc. My base salary is 20k, plus my incentives add up another 10k and plus freelance appointments I do for functions add up another 15k a month, but all my work stated for last 10 months, so does not have all tax papers on it other than my bank statements.

I am going for tour, but same time regular seminars are scheduled there from company who sells skin therapy related products , so have planned to attend them as well, as they will fit in my schedule and transit map.

Should I put all travel plan by date in my itinerary or just select not planned yet in DS 160? Any suggestions will be helpful in this regard or any other that can help to get visa. Thank you

Sorry I assumed you were a married male.

I think you can apply with a purpose to visit your sister and BIL . You can use their I-134.
There is no need to show an itinerary just write a duration of few weeks. And carry proof of your leave from your employer.
