Hello Friends. On 22nd September I applied for B2 visa with my Visa at New Delhi Consulate. Interview Went well. But don't know why they refused to give visa. Following were the questions.

Interview At 8.30 AM. Interview language preference was in English, however, Visa Officer spoke in English and in Hindi as well.

VO:- Good morning. How are you?
ME:- Very Good Morning. I am good. How are you?
    VO:- Theak Thaak. (In Hindi)

VO:- Why you want to visit US?
ME:- For tourism and to celebrate our first marriage anniversary.

VO:- Do you have any relatives in US?
ME:- My wife sister is in US.

VO:- (To my wife) What your sister do in US?
    WIFE:- She is Homemaker.

    VO:- What her husband do?
WIFE:- He works for XYZ Company as a XYZ.

VO:- What this XYZ company do?
WIFE:- XYZ company is in Mining field.

    VO:- What do you do?
    WIFE:- I am also homemaker.

VO:- (To me) What do you do?
    ME:- I work with Dell.

VO:- What is your monthly Salary?
    ME:- 24 Thousand per month.

VO:- What do you do for Dell?
    ME:- Explained my job responsibilities.

VO:- Do you supervise as well?
ME:- Occasionally. But my main role is customer service.

VO:- Do you guys have any kids?
ME:- No, and also not planing for next 2-3 years.
VO:- With smile yes, don't rush.

That is all and he said sorry cant issue you visa this time. You can try again and you might get visa next time. Refusal reason Section 214(b) that you do not have sufficient ties with home country. I am the only son who has to take care of my widow mother. I have my own urban and rural property in India. I work for Dell since 2011. I request Senior members to please suggest and advise what we can do. Should we apply again or not? Is there any chances to get visa. What went wrong in interview?

No offense but 24k per month is very low . They look at your income not just as a source of funds for the trip but also as a financial tie to home country.

Apply when your combined income is at least 50-60 k .

    By the way,
Did you show 'self paying" in the form? or did you get sponsorship from your sis in law in US?
what did you write as the purpose of visit in the form?
What did you write as the duration of visit?
what did you write as the place of stay? hotel or your sis-in-law?

      Thank you for your reply.

I understand that Salary is low with the company I work with right now. However, that is what they asked me for. I do get Rental income as well which is 15k per month. So total comes around 24k (Job Income) 15k (Rental Income) Total 39K.

We do have saving in our bank accounts of more than 21Lac. 11 Lac on my wife name as fixed deposit and 10 Lac as joint with my wife. So I showed that my spouse paying for the trip. We didnt show that we are getting sponsorship from sister in law.

Purpose of visit was Tourism only.

Duration of stay was 2 weeks.

Place of stay was Sister in law house.

If you want to show self pay you have to show very good income over 60k.
Otherwise have your wife's bro in law sponsor next time. Show purpose as visiting wife's sister not just tourism.
Even with sponsorship, it would be better if your combined income is 50k. Income is important because that
makes the officer think you will come back. With low incomes, the officers can think you may not return. Especially
when you do not have any kids yet.

How Can I show In DS-160 that my total earnings for a month including job salary, renting and agriculture land income is over 60k per month? In DS-160 there is no option/column which asks for other income source details other than job salary. Please suggest. I can show more than 50k income thats not an issue. But how I will show that. I will bring all the supporting documents to for interview however if they will not ask for any documents or any other source of income other than job salary like they did this time then again I will get refusal. So please suggest the best way to declare other source of income.

I am sorry I do not think there is a way to do it on the form. If the officer asks you your salary you can add that salary is xx but total income is xxx.
If your wife starts working, then they will take her income into consideration.

Earlier she mentioned in her DS-160 that she is homemaker and now if she will join any company n after 15 days she will apply for visitor visa again will they consider it? Might be they will think that it is just to get visa. Please suggest dat. Also should we give interview together or one by one different day?

That may not work. Do you have IT Returns proof showing all the income?

for a visit to family you must apply together. I suggest you wait some time, and get their sponsorship. People with low incomes can succeed on host's sponsorship.

You can do nothing immediately, to improve your chances.

I think you must wait for couple of months until change your current situation.

A small suggestion to you is,
Next time... you give straight and brief answers to VO.
Don't give unnecessary info. Like..we are not planning kids up to 3-4 years.

I am not saying, because of that they rejected but it is good to be straight and brief.

And next time, take senior member's suggestions before applying. So that you can get some tips.

All the best for your future attempt.
