B2 Visa Query

My wife is in the US on a H1B. I have a valid business visa which is stamped as B1/B2. I have 2 queries.
1. Whether the same B1/B2 Visa stamped a year back valid for 10 years suffice for a 3 week personal visit now? I had got the earlier visa approved for a Business Visit from my organization which did not materialize. Essentially, do I need to apply for a B2 again if I have a B1/B2 stamped already ?
2. My daughter has a H4 based on my wife's H1B. My wife has now filed for her extension. Will there be any issues if our daughter travels on that with me while I travel on an B2 or B1/B2.

Hi,

If the Visa is stamped as B1/B2. You may travel for tourism. Advisable to carry the proof of your wife being in US and your plan to visit her/tour US.


Coming to the 2nd question. Is your daughter's visa valid? If visa is Valid Your daughter can travel as long as her mother is in US or accompanying her. She will get an I-94 based on her Visa expiry.

Hello, Keano.

You are good to travel on your B1/B2 visa. At the POE (Port of Entry) they will ask for your purpose of visit, you need to answer holiday/excursion/meeting wife etc. Essentially, this is a leisure trip for you and not a Business visit. At the POE, they will want to know the duration of your stay, what does your wife do, what do you do in your home country etc. If you will be staying with your wife at her apartment then you need not have any lodging proof, else they might want to see your hotel reservation information.

I am not sure about travelling on H4 (for your daughter), so you might want to seek other people's opinion.
