I met an amazing girl while traveling abroad in Poland. She is going to take a break from her masters degree to come and live with me in Minnesota for about six months on a tourist's visa. Do you think she will have any trouble getting the visa, and what options does she have for getting work here? I know working on a tourist visa isn't possible, but could she apply for a work visa while in the states? Thank you for your help!

Hello, DjFranzel.
The lady's visa chances will depend on her profile - Travelled to other countries, Why a break in the middle of her Masters, Financial Background, Ties to Home Country etc.
As regards working on a Tourist Visa, it is not permitted officially (so please do not mention it during the visa interview) but employers engage people on cash basis.
As regards work visa is concerned, the H1B visa has a stringent process. Someone (a company) needs to sponsor her basis her advanced education skills - like a Financial Analyst, Software Programmer etc. That is a lengthy process and takes months after approval for someone to start working.
I hope this helps.
Wishing you luck.
Cheers,
