    Hi,
    I am on dependent visa in US. My husband is sponsoring my mother but as per documents my birth certificate is required .Now the issue is I lost my birth certificate and if I try to get new one it will take time and I want my mother's visa to be done by next month since my visa will expire by Jan 2015.Is their any other alternative that can work out

      birth certificate is not mandatory for a visitor visa. They do not always ask for it.
      If they ask for it , they do it to make sure they are actually your parents. In that case, just show some secondary document proving your relationship
      to your mother like a school certificate showing your dad's name and also your marriage certificate. In 95% of cases, even that won't be required.
