  • I-134 Affidavit of support doubts

    Hi everyone.
I just printed out I-134 form online and filled it up. I am using it to sponsor my grandmother in Nepal.

    My queries are,
    1. Is it correct that I am sending this form to Nepal or it has to go to USCIS here and get verified first?

    2. The reason I am confused is that I saw this form which can be filed online and has be purchased for $119 !! Am I doing something wrong by just printing it out, filling it up and sending to Nepal?

    Thank you all.

The form is free and can be downloaded from the USCIS site ( http://www.uscis.gov ) and through the IMMIHELP link to the forms. The $189 you saw was a commercial site which is trying to take advantage of people who simply Google for information.

The I-134 and invitation documents must be sent to your grandmother for her interview. There is no agency in the U.S. which approves these documents.

You need to be conscious of commercial websites which pass themselves as "immigration-connected."

Thank you very much for you response. It is a huge relief to know that I am doing it right phew..
Just a one more query though, like I read in the instruction, it doesn't need to be notarised by lawyer as it is signed under penalty of prejury, right?
      Thanks again.

Notary witnesses for sponsorship documents have not been required by USCIS (INS before) or the NVC, for the last 10 years or so.
