Surname(Length) issue

I would like to take B2 visa for my parents who are in INDIA and I’m currently facing one problem while entering my father’s last name(surname) on the DS160 form. His last name contains 35 characters and the limit on DS160 is 33 characters. Please someone confirm if the 33 characters will suffice the situation? Your help would be really appreciated.

You should enter whatever fits, that is, 33 characters. You don't really have any better option.

Your father should really consider legally changing his name to a shorter name. Otherwise, he will face issues everywhere, that is in Visa, airline ticket, visitors insurance and other stuff.
