I-797 sufficient?

Hi,

My L-1 visa has expired and my I-94 is scheduled to expire in a couple of months. My company has applied for an extension (I-129) and I have received the I-797C form. Would this be enough for me to sponsor my in-laws for a visit visa or do I have to await a formal extension approval?
