  • Will power of attorney help my father to get the tourist visa B2? Please help!

    Hi Seniors,

My uncle had applied for B2 visa for my dad and mom. But it got rejected due to one of the following reason.

    1. I entered the yearly salary as his monthly salary. VO asked about this to my dad it seems.
    2. My dad is not owning a house. He owns land only.
    3. My parents said a period of stay a 5 months. They should not have told 5 instead should have confined to 1 or 2.
    4. Low salary could also be a reason

No 1 and No 3 can corrected the next time they appear for the interview. Reg no.4, he is retired now. Will it create a problem?. I have some concerns about no 2. He is not owning a house even now. If I provide a power of attorney to my father, will that be considered as owning a house(to show strong ties with the home country)?

If not, what other options do I have? Kindly suggest. I am planning to having them reappear next month.

    Thanks in Advance.

Can someone please respond by letting me know your thoughts. I could decide whether I should start POA document processing if it makes sense getting it.

Please note that by law, qualifying for a U.S. visa is an interview-based process, and because most of the information required to make a decision is located on the visa application form, other than a few clarifying questions the interviewer will often not need any additional information to make a decision. Because of the large number of visa appointments scheduled each day, consular officers only have a short amount of time to interview each applicant.

It is very necessary to understand that the Invitation letters, financial documents or power of attorney are never required, and a visa will never be issued based solely on their presence. Officers will often not examine these documents, either because they show facts the officer already understands, or because the information does not change the applicant’s basic situation already shown on the application form. Please note that document vendors prey on members of the public and have a financial incentive to convince visa applicants that they should purchase unnecessary documents containing false information to show during the interview.

For your information, a non-immigration B2 visa is not directly connected with a household property. It's all about the applicant's circumstances, family relationship, travels plan, financial resources and ties outside the U.S.

        Good luck
