  • DS160 clarification

    Hi,

My parents are planning to go for interview end of this month or early February.
My father is retired and does freelance consulting with construction companies.right now he is working on a contract Job which ends march 2015 and he does not plan to work after that.
What should he be filling in his DS 160 for present occupation detail?
Should he say freelance consulting as he would be working for that firm when he goes for the interview?
Will he also have to provide some sort of note from his employer?
They plan to come to US in April end or may first week.He will not be working that time.
    Plz help.

He needs to fill all the details in DS160, which are true and he should answer as per his present occupation.

No need to mention about his future plans or irrelevant and prolonged answers, even in the interview, which may give negative results.

This is my opinion, not a legal advice.

      Hi,

      Thanks for the clarification.

In that case would he be required to produce any kind of letter from the company with who he is contracting?
They may not issue any such letter since he is not their full time employee plus his contract ends in March.

      Kindly suggest.

Generally they don't look for any documents. But, it is better to carry whatever the possible evidences, that proves his ties to home country, stable income and a genuine purpose to visit USA and show to VO if asked!

This is my opinion, not a legal advice.
