  • 10 years visitor visa?

    Hi,

Does anyone know if they are giving any 10year visitor visa to anyone these days. My parents are going to visa interview interview but they don't plan to visit USA immediately. They will be visiting us sometime next year after my father retires in June. If they give only 6 months visa...it will be total waste of time and money. Is there a way for us to get 10year visa...

And also, me and my sister live here in US. Both my younger brothers are in india studying. And also, my grandparents live my mom and dad in India. DO u think they will reject visa since two of us are here. Should my parents mention to the counselor that my sister is also here. I am sponsering them.

My sister lived in singapore before and my mom has visited thailand, malaysia, hong kong and all those places along with her. They are strictly coming here for visitor purposes...Should they at all them that my sister lives here....please advice.

    Hi,

Yes, they do give 10 yr visitor visa. My mom in law just got a 10 yr visa at the Chennai consulate.

Yes, it is always advisable to mention sons / daughters, siblings living in the US.

They do indeed give 10 year Multiple entry visas, but unfortunately, unlike at the UK consulate there is no space for you to suggest what duration you want the visa to be.

The US visa duration is based on the discretion of the interviewing consular officer.

Often if it is your first time applying, then it is of a slightly smaller duration than 10 years, maybe 5 or 1 year.

If you can show very substantial assets and so forth, then there is no problem even first time.

hi ...anyways evenif they get an appoointment say for march and get their visa stamped for even 6 months...then they still have time till august to enter US ...coz one can enter US till the last date of the visa validity and only once you enter US then they can stay till whatever date stamped in their I94 which can be mostly 6 months or whatever....so u better start now..
