  • Visitor visa for sister

    Hi,

I was planning to apply for a visitor visa for sister who is doing her final year b.tech. Has anyone applied for similar situation and received visa?
She has received the letter from her college that she is currently enrolled. What are the chances that she will get visa?
If she is rejected now, will it have an impact if she is trying for F1 2 years later? What documents should I furnish to improve her chances?

    Thanks.

In cases of younger applicants who may not have had an opportunity to form many ties, consular officers may look at the applicants specific intentions, family situations, and long-range plans and prospects within his or her country of residence. Each case is examined individually and is accorded every consideration under the law.

    The mandatory requirement of documents are;

    1. Confirmation Page of DS-160 Application form.
    2. A passport valid for travel to the United States with the validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States.
    3. One (1) 2" X 2" (5cm X 5cm) photograph taken within the last six months with White Background.
    4. A receipt showing payment of your US$160 non-refundable non-immigrant visa application processing fee paid in local currency.
5- 5-year travel history (if any)
    6- List of siblings

If you wish to visiting a relative
Bring photocopies of your relative's proof of status (e.g. Green Card, naturalization certificate, valid visa, etc).

Since the visa rejection is temporary under section 214(b) therefore, it will not have any effect on other types of visa, I guess. Good luck

Documents alone will not improve any chances in B visas generally, but purpose and ties to home country will.

Intension of the visitor should be clear and appear genuine to VO. (Family functions like marriage, houses warming or any other family function that requires the attendance of other family members and close relatives may considered as a genuine purpose (but should apply along with other family members). And a medical emergency is also a genuine reason to visit USA.)

She should convince the VO that her trip to the USA this time is very important and surely return to home country after the vacation or expiry of i94.

I don't think recommendations of senators or Congress men will work out for casual visits. They may consider such recommendations with humanity perspective, in medical emergencies.

By the way what is her purpose of visit?

This is my opinion, not a legal advice.
