B1/B2 Visa Interview process for parents and brother at Mumbai Consulate
All,
Just posting experience and learning -- related to Tourist Visa by my parents and brother at Mumbai Consulate in Feb 2015.
Learning -->
1. Please make sure your parents know every detail filled in DS -160 Form. Many times someone else fills the form for them and they may not know all the details.
2. My husband had sponsored the visa - but all the questions asked were about me. Please do not assume that questions will be asked only on the sponsored person.
3. If DOB/ Name is wrong and you have paid the fees as well - they let you fill a new form immediately with correct details at Biometrics center. Please do not panic.
4. If there are some details which you realize are still wrong after Biometrics has been submitted - You are trapped.There are two solutions to this -->
a. Attend the interview --> ONLY If the officer asks you - accept the mistake and ask if form can be filled up again. Officer may ask you to re-fill the form and re-attend biometrics/visa interview. This is still better than getting rejected. You do not have to pay the fees again.
b. Do not attend the Interview - In this case - it will be a No-Show - which is perfectly acceptable. After 24 hours of no-show - you will be able to reschedule the interview. Fill the correct ds-160 form again, select date for biometrics/visa interview again and go with the right details. Previous biometrics in this case gets cancelled.Take all the printout of previous ds-160 form with you.You do not have to pay the fees again.

We had taken a family interview slot. When you pay the fees - there is a option whether you want to attend interview together or separately.

1. What is the purpose of the visit
Ans. - To attend anniversary of my daughter and tourism
2. Your daughter was issued a visa 5 years back, why did she not go then ?
Ans - She did not go. I do not know.
3. Where do you work ?
Ans. I work at xxxx at xxxx position
4. Which places will you visit ?
Ans. YYYY Places
To my Mother -->
1. What does your daugher do ?
Ans. She is working with xxx company at xxx position
2. What is the purpose of visit ?
Ans. To attend anniversary get together and tourism
To my Brother -->
1. Hello xxx, can you speak in english ?
Ans. Yes sir
2. What do you do ? where do you work?
Ans. I work at xxx and my position is xxx
3. What is the DOB of your sister ?
Ans. xxxx-xx-xx
No documents were asked.After his research on computer - he said the golden words
- I approve your visa. You all will get updates by email.
