I am planning on inviting my parents on a B-2 visitor visa. Can someone please answer the following questions:
1) Do my parents have to pay Rs 4,600 (visa application fees), Rs 276 (Service Fees) each, for a total of Rs. 9,752 before scheduling the interview? Will HDFC bank give them two separate receipts?
2) If my parents receive two separate receipts for their respective payments, I am assuming that they will have separate bar codes. If so, will I have to schedule a separate interview for each? The vfs appointment system allows me to put only one bar code number at a time. I wanted that my parents go for their interview together at the same time.
3) Is there any way that my parents can get the same interview date and time and are interviewed together? If so, how? Please explain the procedure. I really need someone to help me with this.
4) I heard that the 20 year passport validity is now acceptable on Indian passports. Is that correct?
5) Where is the space on DS-157 for my parents signature? Do both my parents have to fill out separate DS-156 and DS-157? Is it okay if I use the fillable adobe form (offline) that does not have the bar code on it or do I have to fill out the form online and necessarily get the bar code?
6) If the duration of my parents stay in the U.S is determined by the officer at the port of entry, how can my parents book return tickets in advance? What do most people do?
7) Should I schedule my parents' interview first or should I gather all the documents first? If I gather all the documents first and then find out that no interview dates are available for a long time, do I risk the date on the documents getting stale/old?
8) Can I choose the interview date or does the vfs system bind me to the earliest available date?
I would greatly appreciate any help on the above questions. Please help.
Thanks so much.
