I have a very good friend from Colombia that is planning to visit me in the USA for two weeks in June. He'll either be staying with me at my parents house or in a hotel. We're both 19. I'm a student at a community college and I work part time at a minimum wage job. I have a good amount of money in the bank, but I don't make much per year. He doesn't have a lot of money...probably somewhere between $1000 and $2000. Who actually pays for the trip matters not. We just need to get his visa accepted.
I don't want to sponsor his trip because, quite frankly I don't know how to get all the necessary information to prove that I can financially support him. That being said, I don't know if he has enough money on his own to get his visa accepted.
He does have ties to Colombia. In Colombia you go to school until you're 20, you get two months off from school, one in December and one in June. So he has to return for school.
How should we go about getting his visitor's visa?
All input is greatly appreciated.
