    hi

    hi
this is from my experience(not asking this is right and need to follow this).....my dad went for the interview in Nov while has no plans of travelling until May 2006. However someone suggested to us that if u show too much of gap between the interview and date of travel, they might reject or send u back for some other documents(not too sure much of it is true)......so we had filled intended date of travel as Nov 18th(his interview date was Nov 3rd). Thank God he got alonger term validity was fine.

BUT be prepared for an early travel incase he gets a shorter term......however have heard that you need not complete ur travel within the visa expiration date. I believe if u step into US before it expires then ur duration of stay depends on ur I94 given at the port of entry. As in ur parent go for visa in Jan and get a 6 months visa(hope not, wish they get a longer term)....they enter US anytime between then and July and if I94 they stamp 6 months, they can continue to irrespective of when the visa expires. In such a case please keep a photocopy of thw I94s to prove ur stay was not illegal.
