H1 visa exipred. Extension still not approved

My H1 visa expired this month. My company applied for 7th yr H1 extension last month. But, still haven't got the approval notice.

My inlaws are going for visitor visa interview at chennai consulate next month (Jan 18th). How do i show proof to US consulate that my company has applied for extension and still pending approval?
