Hi all,
Thanks for looking in. We go to Sri Lanka next weekend, and our journey back incorporates a stop in Mumbai from 2am to 2am the following day. We recently realised we need a transit Visa (which is incredibly expensive at £65 each) - however I think in the time we have we are going to be unable to get through the process to buy one in time for the trip!
We had hoped to spend the day in Mumbai, but it seems our options are now the following:
- Stay in the airport for 24 hours (not an attractive option in the middle of a 13 hour journey)
- Go through immigration and claim we will stay in the airport, then leave and do as planned
- Try to come up with another way of getting the Visa turned around quickly - we're travelling currently until Weds next week so can't submit our passports until then, and are leaving Friday so wont get them back in time if we go through the 2 day process.
Does anyone have any advice in this situation? Option A seems exhausting, and Option B risky.
Thanks in advance!
