My sister has applied for a B2 visa (tourist/visitor). The first time she applied was about 5-6 years ago, not sure the basis of the denial. She has now re-applied, her interview was yesterday 3/26/2015. She was denied under 214 (b). She was only asked the purpose of trip and then was denied. She told them to visit family and to go to my sister’s wedding. She was told to re-apply and to be prepared to show documentation that she did not show at the previous interview (they didn’t look at anything on 3/26/15). We want to re-apply this weekend for interview next weekend since she does have proof showing ties in home country (Mexico). Any ideas on what we can do to make this interview successful?
She has the following things in her favor (I believe):
She has letter from employer, she has been employed in same place for over 15 years
She has her home (owns it)
Bank statements showing balance of over $9,000 U.S. Dollars
She has two sons in home county that permanently live there with 2 young grandsons that she takes care of frequently and another grand baby on the way with daughter-in-law in danger of losing the baby.
Has at least one vehicle under her name
Has letter of support/invitation from my sister who is a US citizen (has been for over 18 years). Finance, who she will marry in two weeks owns the home in which they live.
All 6 siblings live in the US, we are all permanent residents for over 20 years and my sister who I mentioned is a US Citizen
The thing that I think is against her is that she has a son who doesn’t have a status in this country yet. He is in the process of obtaining his green card.
If we re-apply does she have a chance of getting her visa? Is it ok to apply so soon after she was denied on the basis that they did not review her documents? And what is the difference between reapplying in general and reapplying once denied on a 214 (b) (paper she got said she can schedule another interview and to be prepared to show documentation she did not provide the previous time).
