Mom's passport - Male instead of Female

my mother renewed her passport last month and had some problems. yesterday when she left for u.s. she has Male instead of Female written....they were causing her problems at bombay but then due to some relatives help she was able to get on the flight. her 10yrs visa has F and also her old passport is attached...with F status....will it cause her any problem at the port of entry...if so what is the solution....PLEASE HELP ...URGENT....ANY PHONE NO. OR FORMS TO FILL AT EMBASSY...

Is the error on the new passport or the visa?

I think it is just a matter of luck.I am not too sure how much they observe this. If they do may be she can try to explain it;s a mistake and she hadn't noticed it. Show them the old passport, visa etc etc.

My aunt had her Abu Dabi Visa stamped as male and she was so worried abt it. She noticed it only when she was in the queue for immigration at the Abu Dabi airport. It was just luck that the Officer there didn't notice and she didn't have any issues. Just hope for the best and incase it's on the passport then try to get it corrected before she starts her return journey. I am not sure may be you can connect the local Indian Embassy and see what needs to be done.
