my inlaws went to chennai on Dec 1st for visitor visa in chennai with regional language
kannada. here is their experience in chennai consulate.
1> Appointment at 7:45 AM. went there at 6:45.
2> An officer checks all the documents.
Asks MIL why her last name different from FIL in the passport. she answers that since she has used her present name in all documents , she hasn't changed it since it would be lot of hazzle. Asks them whether they have brought proper amount in DD
3> officer scans all the important documents.
4> At 8:00 AM another consulate person takes my inlaws to the interview window
the consulate officer asks the following questions
1> how many children do you have ?
2> where are they ?
3> how many people are staying with you in your house
3> who is sponsering the visa ?
her daughter
4> consulate officer asks for documents sent by her and takes a look at it and tells them visa has been granted and asks them to pay the fees.
we asked for 3 month visitor visa. they granted them 10 year multiple entry.
takeaway from this experience is
1> prepare all documents as prescribed in this website.
2> let the people going for the interview throughly understand what each document
means.
3> Go through sample interview questions just to give them confidence
4> be confident in answering questions
