Visa for Parents

Hi,

I understand that parents can't get a H4 visa. I am on a H1 visa. I don't have a mother. My father is all alone in India. He is a retired govt officer and gets pension. So he is not really dependent on me.
What kind of visa can he be issued so that he can come and visit me.

What are the prerequisities and what is the maximum period for which the visa will be issued
Also is there any restriction , that once he visits he will have to go back to India within 30 days or 45 days.

Please help me with my query.
