Parent Name Change - Indian Passport

I am on H1B visa working in USA now and i am planning to bring my parents to USA, But i see that my mother's name is misspelled in my passport. Can you please let me know what is the process to change the same.? I have checked Indian consulate Newyork which handles requests from the state where i am residing in USA.

I got my Perm and I 140 approved recently, Will there will be problem for the same.?
