  • Immediately Applying After Refusal - B2 Visa

    Hi,
I just need your advice in my Case.
I want to go to US for tourism (my wife wants me to go with her and celebrate her birthday in US). I am working in well known firm, with good salary and position.

I applied for B2 visa in 2010 and was refused because of 214 B, at that time I was engaged and my Ex fiancée was an American Citizen.
I applied again now in May 2015, and mention in my application that my previous application was refused in 2010 because of 214B everything was ok till the Visa officer ask me a Question, Were you engaged to an American Citizen and I said NO.
He refused my visa and said Try to be Honest Next time to consular and you are always welcome to Reapply !
    Interview :
    Me: Good Morning Sir,
    VO: No Reply
VO: so why you want to go to US?
ME: its my wife birthday and she wants to celebrate it in New York
VO : Ok, how long you are married?
    ME: From 1 Year
VO: Your wife already have a Visa?
ME: she is EU, I will apply ONLINE ESTA for her once my visa is approved
VO: so why your previous visa was refused?
ME: 214 B , but now am Married, Good Job and Savings to Support this trip
VO: Cool, were you engaged to American Citizen before?
    ME: No
VO: Why you write in previous application you were engaged in 2010?
ME : No words , ---- as it was long time and I am already done with that, Now I am happily married and settled in my new life.
VO: I am sorry I can not issue u a visa this time, and gave me 214B white paper again.
    ME: Sir can I reapply?
VO: Sure you can, try to be Honest with consular next time.
VO: No Comment--> next token called.

If I apply again and admit infront of Visa officer that yes I was engaged but at that time i dont have courage to talk about my Past.
    Will it help?
BTW I already reschedule my interview after few days as its my wife's birthday, and I want to give it another try.

    Waiting for your comments.
    Thanks

You can apply again, but as the consular office already said, you have to be absolutely honest. Your specific situation may not be a negative factor (such as previously engaged) but not telling the truth is the biggest problem. Don't try to manipulate the answers.
