I came to the U.S when i was seven years old on a student visa. Not as LPR (legal permanant resident).
When I was around nine years old, I got adopted by US citizens. However, they never naturalized me or got me a LPR status.
When I was nineteen years old, I got a eleven year sentence in the Federal Prison system. ICE came a month before my release and tried to deport me. But once they found out I got adopted, they let me out.
But now, I can't get my social security card or an ID. I have to go to immigration to obtain a certificate of citizenship which I don't have. I'm afraid immigration won't give it to me and deport me once they find out about my conviction.
If so, then why did the ICE agents let me out in the first place?
