  • B2 Visa Re-application

    Hello-

I had filed a B2 visa for my mother in April 2015. It was rejected without explaining any reason. I am refilling again and have a few questions. While filing last time I forgot to mention that my mother is a sole proprietor in family business and had inadvertently mentioned that she is a home maker. However on legal basis she is the business owner and property owner. While re-filing this time I am filling the correct legal information in DS-160. Will this new information in anyway raise doubts and skepticism in mind of visa interviewer? Could that become and outright reason for denial without looking at the petition? Would you suggest not do that and show her as homemaker? Looking for some immediate help. Thanks

She has applied for the visa before, and her application was rejected.

If nothing has changed in her situation, then it is reasonable to expect that the application will be rejected again.

She should certainly file a truthful application, and in this case being a business owner certainly helps her case. She should bring the supporting documentation to the consular interview (business licenses, biz tax returns, financial statements, business bank account statements).

She may have to explain the difference in her prior application ("my son screwed up my previous visa app!"). That certainly beats and outright denial.

"My son is an idiot he screwed up my previous visa application. I had no intention of ever misleading you."

        They have heard it before.

Edit: I don't mean that you are an idiot, everyone makes mistakes. I'm sure your mom can find the words that clearly convey that to the consular officer.
