  • What to fill for Relationship to You field in DS 160 - Here below my unique situation

    Hi Admin et al,

My father had married to his first wife and unfortunately, they were NOT blessed with kids and no children. So, my father married again(2nd time) to my mom, who is younger sister to my dad's first wife(elder). So biologically my mom (2nd wife) and my dad's first wife are sisters and born to same parents. I am planning to sponsor Visa for my dad's first wife (elder mom, I call normally) to bring her to US on visitor visa B2.

My question is : What should I fill in value for field 'Relationship to You' in DS 160 form under Travel Information area. Should it be 'OTHER RELATIVE' or 'RELATIVE' or 'OTHER' or STEPMOTHER? Also, while signing the application we should fill in the same. I don't think I should be called STEPSON either, because per the definition, I should have born to former wife(elder) not younger one, because my mom got married later.

I request you to kindly respond to this thread with prompt response.

    Thanks,
    Mahe

She is your aunt, not your stepmom.

Do you want sympathy or do you want assistance?

You should describe relationships by the closest link. If your dad married his own sister instead, and you were their child, would you call them mom and dad (closest link) or would you call them aunt and uncle (second closest link)?

I don't need your sympathy . If you can't help others , keep calm and shut everything and don't hurt others with your words. You didn't even read my question properly and answering (sic). As you mentioned above , my dad didn't marry to "his" own sister.. how can a man marries his own sister( definitely not in Hindu culture)?... you should know what you are writing and review before your post..

I am really hurt with your words..so bad. I never come back to immihelp. waste fellows in here.

You did not seem to understand me the first time, so I figured you needed a different and more extreme example.

Your father's wife's sister is your aunt (closest link). You then retorted that if she is your aunt, that makes your dad your uncle.
