  • Parents visa rejected in chennai counsulate

My parents appeared for interview yesterday and it was rejected on gorunds 214b.

The lady officer, ( arrogant ) did not look up documents, she saw the visa application and my parents passport. My parents visited us in 2004 and both me and my brother in the USA, am a GC holder and now pregnant. The officer asked y wud u want to travel again within 13 months from last visit? And she said, since ur daughter is gc holder u r a possible immigrant, how funny?

Well we are all upset and we dont want to go and reapply which wud take another coupld of months and does not guarantee a visa granted.

Thanks for all the support from this forum .

There is no time limit on reapplying and if you wait 6 months there is no guarantee on visa approval, so why wait?

      Keep trying.

      Good luck.

        reapply now

        hi.
There is no need to wait for 6 months. Just 3 days wait will do .Book an appt and go again- you may be lucky to get it this time. And yr ppl can be with u at the most needed time !

          going immediately

going immediately for an interview does not help as per my talks with friends it seems that an interview after 1 1/2 to 2 years after a visitor visit to the US gives you a fair chance for a visa. Of course nothing is guaranteed after a rejection takes place.
If a couple of 100$'s is not a problem then keep trying i guess, but the rejection just kills all the enthusiasm for everyone in the house.

My parents got their visa in Chennai on the 4th. They told me that they were lucky not to go to the counter next to them where the lady officer was just returning passports to people with no mercy and was very arrogant. Fortunately my parents encountered a elderly gentleman whose approach and questions seemed like what a genuine officer would do.

Bad luck to your parents. I have some friends whose parents applied for a second time in a month or two and got the visa after being rejected the first time.

Getting an appointment would be a pain, I guess.

                  Helpseeker,

My Parents Visa was rejected on Jan 3rd. Same way as others only two questions asked. I have two sisters who are married and settled in India. Atleast in my case they looked at the sponsor docs (pay stub). As everyone else, I also cannot show any significant change in the status to prove the ties back home. If they would have asked what property you have type of questions, we can atleast do something.

I think they are looking for two major things, 1. Parents should be working and have few years of service left still. 2. Unmarried children are back home.

I dont think they even look for anything related to financial ties back home.

I am going to try another time and I am waiting for dates in June 06 to apply in Tamil Language.
