  • Should Non-Immigrant Visa Applicants in India accompany Minor Children For U.S

    • I still have a valid 10 yrs multiple entry B1/B2 visa, which was issue in 2006 August. My son had a 5 yrs multiple entry visa that expired in 2011. I am thinking about visiting some relatives and friends in the US this December 2015 and would like to take my son with me as well. I am a single parent. My ex- lives in another country and we are not in communicating terms. Someone told me me in case of a minor child, they will require the consent of the other parent. But since I am not in communicating terms with my ex- and since he does not reside in the same country, it is not possible for me to get a letter from him.

    • Also when I first applied for my son, he was 5 yrs old and I was divorced at that time too, but the person who interviewed us for the visa did not ask me for any consent letter. Now my son turned 14yrs this year and I was wondering if I will have any issues getting a visa since I don't have a consent letter. Also I have another question: since my visa is still valid, I will not be applying for the visa, but will I have to appear along with my 14 year old to the interview or should he go alone now since he is 14 yrs. He is still silly and not so responsible, so I am afraid of letting him carry all the important documents by himself.
