  • How to prepare best for Visitor's visa

    Hi,
I am planning to invite my mother, sister and niece to visit CA in summer. Here are the details about them:

Mother: Widow 51 years. Is not employed. However, she is not dependent on me. She has an house and money invested which generates about 5000 Rs a month.

Sister: 33, Married, with a kid (who is 4). She works as a school teacher. Has a house and husband is working in India. She only has a 6 week window every year when she can visit me (her summer vacations)

They are going together for interview in Calcutta. Sister speaks English fluently but mom is not so fluent.

    1) Should we ask for an interpreter or just continue in English ?
    2) What are the chances of my mother getting the visa ?
    3) What questions should my mother in particular be prepared about ?

This is the first time they are applying for Visitor's visa. On my side, I am sending them all possible documents that are listed in this as well as other immigration portals (short of letter from the Senator)

Any help with the questions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Shoubhanik

      Hi!

If you have time you can take appt in regional language becoz appts in English are easier to get than regional (depends on which Consulate you have to go).

Thats a very difficult question to predict

Just go through the forum and the website to get an idea of the commonly asked questions. Also go through the visa tracker where you might get some clues.

        similar case

Hi, I have a worse situation than Samkur has. My mom is scheduled an appointment at the Chennai consulate on March. She is a widower and has only one child who is me in the USA. She is 61 years old. But she has properties and an active role in our community temple. I did not visit India for last four years and like to see my mom. She intends to stay with us for 6 months. Could you please suggest some valid points that we could put forward to make her case stronger. She does not want to stay with us for sure.

Samkur mentioned that he obtained a letter from the Senator. Did you mean that you got it from the USA senator or from India?

Thanks for your attention in this matter.

        Please help me.
