  • Regarding name differences in parents passport

    Hi,

I am on H1 and am planning to bring my parents to US on visiting visa.
The names in my parents passport and my passport are not matching.

When my parents go for VISA stamping, will it cause any problem ?

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

It should be okay. How big is the difference?
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      Thanks for the reply..

Surname difference is there for my mother.
And for Father, one extra character difference.

I just had my mother's B2 processed. Her mother's last name was missing on the passport. I put the last name in DS-160. It was no issue.

In any case, your parent's visitor's visas have nothing to do with you. They are independent visas. It doesn't matter what is listed in your passport. They are not giving your parents a visa based on your visa/passport regardless of what people think. B2s are not dependent visas. Now, if this was an H4, then names might come into play since those are actually for dependents.
