I am a f1 visa holder got married to a us citizen three months ago. i am about to apply for the green card. We need to apply for i 130, i 485, and some other forms. One of the forms it sais i need my wifes tax returns. she doesnt have the papers she got every tear from irs. she contacted her work and they printed out for her w2s for two last years. my question is her w 2 going to be fine since she doesnt have the copies of her tax returns you get every end of year?

Tax Returns vs W2s
A W2 will only show income. A tax return shows a complete picture, so not only income but property, dependents, etc. A W2 also does not show that the person is legally filing their taxes. Most suggest previous year tax returns are kept for 5 years, some suggest 7 or longer. You could possibly contact the IRS to see if they could provide a document showing proof of filing tax returns for previous years, but if at all possible I would obtain/locate the tax returns.
