Visior B2 Visa (Photo requirement)

Hi,

Is it mandatory to upload the digital photo while filling form DS 160.

I already filled the online application form and have generated the Confirmation with barcode, but without photo (on photo space it says Photo will be taken at ASC)

Another query how many days is the online application valid before scheduling visa appointment.

I've done 3 applications in the last year and I never uploaded a photo. It was always taken at OFC. At OFC, they always said take a hard copy photo with you to the Embassy. The embassy always used the photo taken by OFC and did not use the hard copy photo that the OFC always asks us to take.
