    Hi,
    I get the following error while trying to take an appointment for my parents for a Visitors visa through the VFS site :

    --- Please check date of issue of Fee Receipt. It is valid after 2 working days upto 1 year from date of issue.
    --- Are you entering details of the Fee Receipt issued in your name?

    Its been more than two weeks since the fees have been paid and we have also verified with VFS that the receipt is activated.

    Could anyone please suggest what the issue might be and what needs to be done ? The interview dates are fast becoming unavailable ..

    Please advise !

    Are u sure u are entering the 10 digit receipt number? Its the barcode number.

      Hi Dahlia,
      I have verified that the number I am entering is the 10 digit barcode number beginning with 9. I am applying for the Chennai consulate.
      I guess the only other option is to call the VFS number at Chennai and verify with them, or else have my parents go in person to the Application Center and get an appointment.

        If you call up vfs center, they will activate your hdfc receipt. If you already did this, probably it may due to some blank space in the entry column like passport number. No space between Alphabet and numbers. Try this.

        Otherwise take the receipt to the nearest vfs office and get help for getting your appointmnet.

          Thanks for the reply..I have already done what you have suggested..So now I am asking my parents to go to the VFS center in Bangalore and get their help in getting an appointment.
          Will they need to take the DS-156 and DS-157 forms along with them when they go ? Are the forms available at VFS or should I send them the soft copies so that they can take a printout ?

            Call VFS; Check Passport number & BAr Code

            See my other posts; I got the same error with my moms passport; called up VFS and found that my moms passport number first letter (E instead of B) is wrong in their system. They took 2 days to correct it; On the 2nd day they told me that they have to verify with HDFC; I argued that since the rest of the digits are the same, it is clearly a typo and NOT fraud. They corrected on 2nd day; Chennai/visitiors visa/telugu dates moved from May1st to may10th; and I am able to take an appt for my parents together;

              I need help in taking appointment online. My parents have 2 receipt numbers. Is that we need to enter 2 times all the info. Or does it ask for another application towards the end ...

                YOu can take an appt for both of them together. When you fill out the application for one of them at the end you would get an option for "End /Complete Application" or "Add another Applicant" so here you can choose the second option and add your second applicant.

                      HDFC receipt not getting activated

                      I faced the some problem, but as the error message says the Bar Code becomes useful two working days after it's issued. I tried to use the barcode on the same day it was issued and it gives me the error message stopping me going to next page.my appt date will be delayed by 2/3 days becuase of this .
