  • Visit Visa Query

    Good Morning Friends,

I've a question regarding visit visa. I was granted B1/B2 10 yrs Multiple entry visa in 2013 but couldn't travel to US because the conference that I intended to attend was over by the time I received my visa. Now I currently live in Toronto on Permanent Residency and wish to travel to US for a week to visit my family and friends. Can I travel on the same B1/B2 visa that was stamped on my passport in 2013 or do I need to apply or contact US consulate for a new request because this time around, I plan to visit US for seeing my family and friends (unlike in 2013, I was granted visa to attend my company conference). I can travel by road but not sure if I need to get a new visa?

    Kindly share your thoughts? Appreciate.

    Regards,
    Naseer

You should not need a new visa. Your 10 year multiple entry visa is good for 10 years. Once you get to the port of entry, you will state your reason for your visit and they will issue the I-94 dates based on that information. A 10 year visa is not issued based on 1 visit, therefore multiple visits would and can be for multiple reasons.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is at your own risk.
