Can visa appointment be preponed?

Hello guys,

Just a quick question... I had my travel agent book a visa appointment for my parents thru TTSVisas.com and their interview was scheduled for 20th of Jan but at the last moment when I tried to print out the receipt. I couldn't find my mom's details on there just my dad's. I talked to customer service and tried everything but TTSVisas said they couldn't help but to book a fresh visa appointment.

So, I had no other way but to cancel it and I booked a new appointment today. The date is May 11th at Chennai. Is there anyway that we can change the appointment date now on the vfs... I mean if the slots are freed up, can we change the appointment to an earlier date. Some one told me that we can keep checking for the dates and then if we find an earlier date, we can book that, Is this possible through vfs?

You are right, you need to keep checking for available dates and reschedule when slots open up. I saw few dates in April and one on March 4th ( so far the earliest I found) in last couple of days. But VFS site is goofy many times, when you go to reschedule, whatever available date shown in view only screen dont get displayed here. Can you ask ttvisas customer service if they have any mechanism to automatically book cancelled slots?

Thanks for your reply "justanother"... Could you walk me through the process of how to prepone it.

I clicked on the Cancel/Reschedule Appointment link on the home page and then it asked me to fill some details, when I did it asked me to click the checkbox for my mom and there were three buttons,

Confirm Reschedule, Back & Exit.

I didn't know if I have to click on the confirm reschedule or not, Where do we get to see the free slots so that we can reschedule...

I am assuming it to be like this,
My appointment currently is on May 11th, 2006.

You first click on the apply for non immigrant visa and after giving visa type & e.t.c details, it shows the calendar, if you see a free slot (say Mar 15th, 2006) then, open a new window & click on the reschedule the appointment link and give the details, once you hit the confirm reschedule button here, I think it will be rescheduled to the most earliest slot which is mar 15th here in this example)...

Please correct me if I am wrong...

And also I am assuming, if someone else is also trying and if they see the free slot and tries to reschedule their appointment, I think then it is First request First Serve??? And if something goes wrong , its gone ??

But until you go through all steps you will not be rescheduled. The last step should be the calendar with clickable slots. Once you click the slot there, your appointment should be rescheduled. The "confirm reschedule" buttons are mis-leading, but only take you to next step.
I go all the way till the calendar now to find free slots. So far no luck. Keep trying. They may open up any time.

I am also trying to prepone my parents appointment(telugu) ,but I didn't find any dates so far. In which language did you find the dates in march and april and in which language.I booked an appointment for my parents on may 1st.

hi pola,
I think available slots for regional language may be very limited as I heard. I had booked appt for English and I saw several slots opening up in April as early as Apr 4th. I got mine rescheduled from May 24th to Apr 24th. But after looking at many slots, I wished to have earlier date. Since you can reschedule only once, I cancelled the appointment and started a new appointment. I got a Apr 21st slot. Hoping to have it preponed to end of March or early Apr. Keep checking all the time. Good luck!

If you have a regional language appointment hold on to it. Most of the cases reschedule in regional language may result in not early but late appointment.

Whats the best time to check for the availability... I mean, I heard that if it is ttsvisas.com they run a single batch process at 5:30 pm India daily that clears up the time slots all at once... (don;t know how true this is though)...

Is there any specific time that I should check so that my chances of open slots increase??
