    B2 Visa denied due to lack of blood ties

    Hi, question for you guys. I was denied a B2 visa under the premise that the host inviting me to the US was not a blood relative of mine, despite being good friends. Is this normal and legal? The State dept's website says the B2 Tourist visa is good to visit friends and family.
